theBalm Cindy-Lou Manizer aka “The Con-tour Artist”

The latest addition to theBalm’s family of outlaws is the ginger sister of Mary and Betty, miss Cindy. Much like Betty reminds you of a bronzer rather than a highlight, this little culprit will remind you of a blush at first sight.
I would give her the benefit of the doubt…

Let me start by saying, that the one thing that annoys me the most about theBalm’s shimmery products is the literal application of the phrase “With great power, comes great responsibility!”, loosely translated as “Be careful as f**k, we’re so buttery we can actually spontaneously combust.”. The pigmentation of this company’s products is phenomenal, indeed, but they shouldn’t be coming with a FRAGILE sticker on them, not a mugshot. They are buttery, highly pigmented and beautiful, but they are prone to breakage, if you are not sincerely gentle with them. Having said all that, I should also mention, that my Cindy-Lou came with the pan off the actual compact and I had to pop it back in and glue it down myself (if it weren’t for this blog,I would have stuck a magnet in the back, popped it in a zpalette,no further questions asked…), all the time thinking “She could have shattered. This is a sign from God!”.  So, as far as packaging goes, you may be pretty Cindy, but you suck.

As you can see, Cindy is a light,beigey-pink shade, not resembling her sisters at all (shhh, she’s adopted). She is far less shimmery, and far more powdery. The minute your brush touches the product, it is dust gallore. BUT, I found that I really like the finish it gave when applied on top of cheekbones. It was a pearlescent cool-toned hint of shimmer, very pretty and very subtle, which I actually enjoy. I do not enjoy the stripes of war some starc white highlighting powders give.It looks unnatural, and unless you’re a drag queen (hey, girl, hey!) it is not cute. With that being said, let’s move on to the comparisons.

In my opinion, Cindy is the weakest link in the company’s highlighter chain, but it’s also the most unique.

I got mine on sale at feelunique.com where you can find both the other girls as well, with free international shipping over £10/15.

All in all, I do not regret purchasing this little minx, I just wish it was not as powdery and messy.

Do you own all of theBalm’s girls? Which one’s your favourite?
